The London FA is responsible for the safeguarding welfare of children and vulnerable adults involved in grassroots football and run a series of courses and training events for clubs, handle safeguarding issues and manage the new Criminal Records Check process.

It is now a mandatory requirement for all youth football Clubs and Leagues to have a qualified Welfare Officer in place before they can affiliate to the London FA.

The London FA work closely with the FA to ensure that all the relevant Safeguarding Children policies and practices are being adopted by all our youth leagues and clubs throughout the county in order to protect children and protect the interests of our clubs.

The FA has a simple three part approach to help everyone

  • Getting the right people involved - carrying out references and CRB checks
  • Creating a safe environment - Codes of conduct, education and best practice
  • Promoting clear systems to deal with any concerns, policy and procedures
