London Launches New Referee Technology - REFSIX

An exciting new technology pilot is now in action on The Woolwich and Eltham Sunday Football Alliance thanks to smartwatch and mobile app provider, REFSIX.

The REFSIX smartwatch app enables referees to record match incidents on their watch as they happen in-game, before sending the data to the league after the final whistle. This technology helps referees and leagues speed up administration. REFSIX are focusing on providing a great experience for referees and have exciting upcoming features such as performance tracking on the horizon.

Referees on the league are piloting the technology until the end of the season in an aim to make match day administration easier for both the referees and the league.

Hassan Rajwani, CEO of REFSIX, “We are extremely excited to partner with the WESFA League and London FA on this pilot. It is a great opportunity to demonstrate the value our product can bring whilst also gathering valuable feedback so we can it even better in the future.”

Jason Verrillo, WESFA League General Secretary, “We are delighted to be directly involved in such an innovative pilot scheme. We are always striving for continuous improvements and this pilot scheme drives that criteria in multiple areas of our internal organisation. Efficient administration and timely communication are key for having a successful product. We have had positive feedback from a sample of Referees that have used the watch before the trial commences and they give it a massive thumbs up.

London FA have been supporting the pilot and are keen to look at potentially expanding the provision across London to enable more referees and leagues to make use of REFSIX.  Head of Engagement and Support, Natalie Doyle commented “This is a really exciting project and an example of how technology can be used to improve the game for our referees and leagues alike.  We look forward to seeing the feedback from the pilot and hopefully making this technology available on a wider scale from next season”.
