Charlton Athletic Deaf Football Club – who come under the Charlton Athletic Community Trust umbrella – have been given the almighty task of hosting the European Deaf Champions League, London 2019. This will be the 12th European Deaf Champions League which will be run from 15th to 20th April 2019 in South East London.

There will be men’s and women’s teams coming from all over Europe. The clubs that will be taking part are some of the best Deaf clubs from each country, so we are eagerly anticipating an exciting tournament to see who will be named champions of Europe! With 16 brilliant teams set to enter the tournament, the competition will be fierce!

This is a remarkable achievement for Charlton, which comes with great pride and responsibility. The organising committee are currently well underway with their preparations and are very excited and honoured to have been asked to host a tournament of such prestige.

Charlton Athletic Deaf FC will be joined by St John’s Deaf FC as well as Fulham Deaf FC, with the rest of the teams being from other European countries.

Milan hosted the 2018 tournament, in which P.O.K Athens took home the trophy after defeating Doncaster Deaf FC in a nail biting final.

Charlton are very pleased to be working closely with the London FA and would like to thank the FA for their support, however, hosting a tournament this big will carry a high price for Charlton, therefore the organising committee are actively seeking support for sponsors, donations and volunteers. This is a brilliant opportunity for any company to get excellent publicity and to really show their support for the Deaf community. The organising committee are welcoming any support and are offering much publicity to those who can help.

There are many volunteering roles available such as filming, taking photos, transport, match/pitch stewarding, ball boy/girls, tickets selling, event promotor, car park marshalling, catering and so on.
