London FA Proud to Support Football Fans Together

London FA is backing fundraising initiative to benefit the NHS and community football.

London FA is delighted and proud to announce its full support to a brand-new fundraising initiative, Football Fans Together.

The fundraising campaign was launched in early May in a bid to unite the United Kingdom’s community of football fans to donate and raise funds that will benefit both the NHS and community football during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

The brilliant concept was devised by Craig Swyer and Chelsea supporters’ group ‘We Are The Shed’, which is led by FA Membership Executive, Richard Weekes, and London FA’s Development Administrator, Alex Burke.

Football Fans Together is asking those football supporters, that would usually be attending football matches at their team’s ground at the weekend, to pledge to donate the money they would usually spend on a match programme, pre-match pint or a half-time pie to Football Fans Together.

Football Fans Together has set a fundraising target of £200,000, with 75% of the proceeds going directly to NHS Charities Together, which represents over 230 NHS charities.

The remaining 25% will be donated to Football Beyond Borders, an education charity which utilises the power of football to support disadvantaged young people in the United Kingdom.

FFT - Make A PledgeLondon FA is pleased to back such a brilliant fundraising concept during this difficult time for so many people, including the amazing NHS staff who continue to put themselves at risk to keep the public healthy.

Alex Burke, Development Administrator at London FA and one the people behind the concept, said: “Football Fans Together is a brilliant opportunity for football fans across the country to unite during this time of national crisis. Whilst raising money for the NHS, we are also looking to assist grassroots football throughout the unstable period which it is now facing. We hope this campaign will demonstrate the positive impact that football supporters can have within the UK.”

London Chief Executive Officer, Paul Bickerton, added: “During these difficult times, it’s been heartening to see the way that communities have come together to help each other. London FA’s vision is to harness the power of grassroots football to enrich more lives in London and so we are very proud to support a fundraising initiative that sees the community of football supporters come together like this. If supporters donated just the money they’d usually spend on the match programme, the difference it would make to NHS Charities Together and Football Beyond Borders is huge.”
