London FA Backing StreetGames' Big Give Campaign

London FA supporting campaign to help provide disadvantaged children with meals and mental health support.

London FA is proud to throw its support behind our friends StreetGames and their fundraising as part of The Big Give’s 2020 matched-funding campaign.

This year, StreetGames are hoping to raise funds to support young people in London. The Champions for Children campaign has been designed to help the most disadvantaged and vulnerable children affected by coronavirus, with StreetGames’ own Fit & Fed: Filling the Holiday Gap campaign certainly working to do just that.

The Childhood Trust interviewed disadvantaged children and found that many were deeply disturbed; worrying extensively about their family’s health, the closure of schools, a loss of social connection and had anxieties about their future.

Champions for Children aims to raise £3million in one week to fund the delivery of 94 projects, providing vital emotional and practical support to London’s most disadvantaged children.

Support includes meals, counselling and wide range of recreational activities that will help children recover. Last year, StreetGames succeeded in hitting its fundraising goal, benefitting several hundred young Londoners.

This year, they’re hoping to repeat the feat.

In March, the Childhood Trust revealed that the coronavirus pandemic could leave over 100,000 vulnerable children without key support, including healthy meals and mental health care currently being provided by London charities.

This is a great opportunity to make your money go further in support of a great cause.

The £20,000 target raised will be matched by The Childhood Trust and Pears Foundation, supporting eight organisations to deliver vital support.
