London FA win County FA Recognition Awards 2022 prize

London FA have landed the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Award at the 2022 County FA Recognition Awards for its Racial Equality Action Plan.

The Awards, which were hosted at Wembley Stadium connected by EE, recognise and endorse the best projects, products and services delivered by County FAs over the past season while sharing best practice and learnings from around the country.

A record breaking 235 submissions were entered from the 50 County FAs operating across England, highlighting continuous improvements and showcasing how they are innovating to improve football and increase participation across all levels of the game.

London FA was handed the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion award for it’s work in developing and delivering a Racial Equality Action Plan across the capital city. The plan is seeking to tackle all forms of racial discrimination across grassroots football in London and was underpinned by a detailed consultation with London FA members.

Paul Bickerton, London FA CEO, said: "We’re honored and privileged to be recognised for our work in such an important area. As one of the most diverse cities in the world, it is only right that London leads the way in equality, diversity and inclusion. I’m so grateful to the club and league representatives who contributed to the consultation that led to the development of this plan."

Conor McBrearty, London FA’s Disability & Inclusion Officer, said: "I’m delighted that London FA’s work on the Racial Equality Action Plan has been acknolwedged in this way. It forms part of a broader and ambitious Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Plan and is all part of our commitment to create an open and accessible game for all."

The FA’s Director of Football Development, James Kendall added: “It gives us great pleasure to recognise and reward our County FAs and I want to thank each and every one of them for the vital work they deliver across their local communities, ensuring we continue to develop, promote and protect the game so it can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of age, background or ability.

"I’d like to congratulate London FA in winning the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion award and all of the other County FAs for their dedication and achievements over the past two seasons."
