National Family Week |

|
|
At the end
of May this year, the country’s second-ever National Family Week
will take place, encouraging people across the country to celebrate
being part of a family, whatever shape or size |

Why not support
this campaign and join with hundreds of other organisations in
promoting The Week through your networks and consider hosting
activities for families in your community during National Family
Week.
National Family Week aims to highlight the important role families
play in society and encourage healthy active lifestyles and quality
family time.It is the largest coalition on family issues and is
backed by all major political parties and a huge range of national
charities, local authorities, community groups and sporting
associations including the FA, Premier League, RFU, ECB and Sport
England plus a whole host of celebrities including sporting
champions Sally Gunnell and Rebecca Adlington. The inaugural
National Family Week which took place between the 25th and 31st May
last year saw over 4,000 events happening across the UK and garnered
over 1,300 pieces of media coverage. National Family Week 2010 is to
run between the 31st May and 6th June and aims to be even bigger and
better.
There are a number of themes running throughout The Week including
the Family Week Picnic (Monday 31 May), Story Time (Wednesday 2
June) and Sports Day (Saturday 5 June). Why not run your own Family
Week Sports Day or sporting activities throughout The Week, giving
families in your community the opportunity to learn about and enjoy
playing sport together. Alternatively you could organise a Family
Week Picnic or run storytelling sessions. National Family Week
provides a national platform to help showcase the services you
provide to families.
As well as thousands of events and activities set to run all across
the UK, there will be 10 flagship picnic events and 10 flagship
sports days. These will be large-scale events able to accommodate
1,000+ people and which National Family Week will provide additional
support to by way of marketing and PR. There is already a flagship
sports day confirmed for London organised by the RFU at Twickenham
but there is still an opportunity to be the flagship picnic for
London. If are interested in being considered for this, please
contact the National Family Week team.
If it will not be possible to organise a large-scale event, perhaps
you may be interested in running smaller activities for families in
your community during The Week - when there will be considerable
media and public attention on the role of family and family life in
the UK. All events and activities will be promoted on the National
Family Week website from March onwards and organisers will be able
to start uploading their events and activities from the beginning of
February in the Partner Zone at www.nationalfamilyweek.co.uk.
