Safeguarding Children

London FA is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, fun and inclusive environment for children and young people to participate in football. Safeguarding is about doing things the right way and doing things properly. It’s about allowing children to enjoy football without abuse of any kind. That means protecting them from sexual, emotional or physical harm and from neglect or bullying.

Safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility and having Welfare Officers in all clubs and leagues with youth teams is crucial to The FA’s approach to safeguarding. This includes

  • Getting the right people involved – carrying out references and CRB checks
  • Creating a safe environment – codes of conduct, education and best practice
  • Promoting clear systems – to deal with any concerns – policy and procedures

The London FA County Welfare Officers are Sue Cairney and Thomas Simmons. Should you have any queries or concerns please contact Sue on 020 7751 2420 or or Thomas on 020 7751 2425 or
