FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT

Female Football Gets a Kick Start

It is an exciting time for women’s and girls’ football in London as the London FA have appointed two Women’s and Girls’ Football Development Officers to further develop the female game in the capital.

Natalie Huntley (North London boroughs) and Emma Barnes ( South London boroughs) will be working to increase participation in the area by assisting current clubs to expand as well as supporting those male clubs who intend to create girls or women's sections. Other work will include assisting with female coaches and officials as well as promoting the 'player pathways' towards Centre of Excellence football for the more gifted and talented players.

Natalie said “It’s a great time to be involved with women and girls’ football following the success of the England team at the World Cup.  Now we want to develop the game at grassroots level and increase the number of teams and female coaches in London .”

Emma added “There are lots of females out there in the Capital who are interested in football at varying levels, and we want to ensure that we can offer them opportunities to become involved, no matter what their level of experience is, whether it be playing for the first time, coaching, refereeing or at the elite end’’
