COVID19 Update

New guidance around football and COVID-19 has been issued by the FA

We want to thank you in advance for playing your vital role in helping our great game to stay safe. By observing Government guidance and the football-specific protocols, let’s work together to ensure we can all continue to enjoy football while keeping as safe as possible.

Please note that although the Department for Culture, Media & Sport have updated their grassroots sport guidance to reflect the Government’s move to Plan B, there is not currently any material impact to playing grassroots football. The Government's Plan B guidelines are focused on the wearing of face coverings, work from home guidance, international travel and pushing the booster programme.

The FA have updated their latest COVID-19 guidance to reflect the government’s move to Plan B and you can view the updated guidance documents for grassroots football here.

Despite these changes having no material impact to playing grassroots football, we understand the potential disruption to fixtures currently being caused by very high covid infection rates. These rates are being led by the new Omicron variant, which is spreading quickly, particularly in London.

Any response to this disruption is within a league’s jurisdiction – they are best placed to manage any fixture cancellations and interruptions and the FA’s Standard Code of Rules confirms this. We are on hand to support and guide the leagues with any proposed changes they may wish to implement, if they need it.

Any queries related to the above should be sent to our development@londonfa.com inbox in the first instance.
