HACKNEY MARSHES FEMALE REFEREES ACADEMY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME
WELCOME TO THE OPENING OF THE 2021/22 CLUB AFFILIATION WINDOW!
There have been enormous challenges that we have all faced over the past season and we are cautiously optimistic that they will not be repeated for the 2021/22 season. None of us can predict the future, of course, but with COVID-19 infections falling sharply and the success of the vaccination programme, London FA is now planning for a full and successful grassroots football season for 2021/22 and feeling more positive than we have since the start of the pandemic.
Football has never been so important to so many people. The opportunity to get back out on the pitch and get active again playing the game we love, with friends, has been transformative for many after a tough start to the year. The resilience of this great game and the tireless work of the army of volunteers that make it happen is exceptional. London FA has been inspired by the amazing work that has been carried out by our clubs and leagues in response to the many measures put in place, making sure that grassroots football is played in as safe an environment as possible.
The financial impact of this crisis continues to be very challenging for all of us.
We are therefore very pleased to announce that we can offer another significant discount to affiliation costs this season.
For the fifth year in a row there is no price increase on our club affiliation fee and we have been able to reduce again the ‘per team’ affiliation fee by £10, following a grant from Sport England and The FA.
Furthermore, although our insurance provider was due to slightly raise Personal Accident costs this season, London FA has been successful in negotiating a 23% decrease on these costs, ensuring that Personal Accident fees will be lower than even the discounted price last season. We know that these ‘per team’ fees are the most expensive part of affiliation for our members and it is for this reason we have targeted them.
We hope that the above, alongside the work the London FA team have done in partnership with The FA to create a one-stop shop for all guidance and advice regarding COVID-19, demonstrates our commitment to continuing to supporting our member clubs through this difficult period.

At London FA our vision is to ‘harness the power of grassroots football to enrich more lives in London’ and we know that Londoners are going to need our sport more than ever before as we emerge from this crisis.
Thank you for everything you do to deliver grassroots football in this great city and we’re very much looking forward to working with you as we all prepare for next season.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDING UPDATES
As we look ahead to the new season, London FA would like to share some important safeguarding updates. We have recently appointed a new safeguarding team, with Alex Wilson as our Assistant Designated Safeguarding Officer (ADSO) and Lewis Warren as Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO). Lewis will not be joining us until July so, for the interim, Conor McBreaty will be our DSO. If you have any safeguarding concerns and need to contact our team, all their contact details can be found here.
All DBS applications are currently taking 6-8 weeks to complete so it is important for clubs to get applications started earlier to reduce delays in their affiliations
Club Welfare Officers will need to be compliant before affiliation can be approved. This includes an in-date FA DBS, Welfare Officers Course and Safeguarding Children Course. Workshop can be completed online and can be booked onto here.
For the 2021/22 season, it is also mandatory that all adult clubs whereby there is at least 1 player under the age of 18 registered to play, has an appointed Club Welfare Officer.
