London FA staff show Play Safe Weekend support
To celebrate Play Safe weekend, London FA staff spent time at clubs in the capital to provide support and answer any questions on safeguarding compliance.
This year's Play Safe weekend focussed on the role that everybody has to play in safeguarding - from players and coaches to parents and volunteers.
London FA Football Safeguarding & Welfare Manager, Harry Woodley, said: "As weekends go, they do not come much bigger in The FA Safeguarding Calendar than Play Safe Weekend.
"It was a delight to get out to visit clubs, checking their safeguarding compliance during our visits whilst also taking the valuable opportunities to talk to the people that make football happen.
"We are beyond proud and grateful for the supporting team that helped make this happen and to all the people that were visible supporters of Play Safe.
"Safeguarding is a priority 365 days a year, but it’s always extra special to shine some positive light on it for the weekend."
London FA Chief Executive, Paul Bickerton, who visited Regents Park Youth League, added: "If you ever want an example of how the grassroots game is thriving in London, look no further than this venue on a weekend morning. Particularly encouraging to see the new Football Foundation funded hybrid pitch hosting so many new women and girls teams.
"Well done to Bruno, Will and the rest of the team at the Regents Park Youth League for creating this environment. And its always humbling to meet the many extraordinary volunteer coaches, managers and parents who make it all possible."
