Grassroots Heroes Awards 2024 - Club of the Year
London FA are proud to announce that the winner of Club of the Year (sponsored by TeamFeePay) for the 2024 Grassroots Heroes Awards is Vicky Park Rangers!
Vicky Park Rangers is a girls club based in East London which has worked tirelessly to provide football playing opportunities for girls aged 4-16 of all abilities. They do so by providing football scholarships for families who are unable to afford fees, creating a nurturing and secure environment for girls to find the joy in football and develop skills. The club works on the ethos that finance is not a barrier for girls to play football and support playing at every level, from drop-in sessions to ten girls’ teams, and have grown from a group of 30 girls in 2018 to now over 250 players this season. They continually show faith in the development of girls’ football through their dedication and determination as coaches to provide opportunities for the girls to continue to challenge themselves.
Vicky Park Rangers’ dedication to supporting the growth of female football was exemplified in 2023 when they successfully challenged the local council to get a training pitch back for the girls which involved countless hours spent by the club communicating with the council, seeking legal advice, and utilising the press. The club have also worked hard to maintain their pitch space at Victoria Park for match days. Their coaches are often at the pitch at 7am, rain or shine, to make sure the pitch is playable, whether that is helping with drainage or filling holes with sand, their dedication to giving girls’ opportunity to play is immense.
The club continue to aim to grow despite limitation in space and provide opportunities for girls to play football across East London. There is no stone left unturned by Vicky Park Rangers and club embodies the value of playing sport like no other.
Congratulations to Vicky Park Rangers!
