London FA confirms new Board

We have announced our new Board, which has been appointed to reflect the capital's diverse community.

The London Football Association continues to lead the way in corporate governance by announcing its’ new Board for the period January 2024 to January 2027.

As part of a strategic commitment to make football in London as diverse as the capital city itself and to open out recruitment to as wide a pool of talent as possible, five members are joining the London FA Board for the first time. They are Terri Lynam – a marketing and communications specialist and founder of In The Round Communications; Kevin Wilmot – a long standing London FA Council Member with significant local government experience; Jo Hind – co-founder of Birdsoup, a people transformation and inclusivity consultancy; Tyra Mills, former London FA Youth Council Member, content creator and freelancer; and Abdul Yusuf, Youth Projects Executive at the Premier League.

Paul Bickerton, CEO of London FA explains: “Our corporate governance reforms over the past few years require us to run two separate recruitment processes. The first is to elect four members from our London FA Council to become Council-elected Non-Executive Board Directors. The second is an open recruitment drive to bring a wide range of football and business skills onto the Board. All Directors, new or existing, had to apply through one of those two channels and by combining both processes we are ensured of the strongest candidates across London’s sporting and business communities”.

The open recruitment process was supported by an independent recruitment panel specially selected for the task, who worked with the London FA’s Nominations & Remunerations Committee to select the new members. This panel was made up of several public sector recruitment and diversity specialists.

This recruitment process and the new Board adhere in full to Tier 3 of Sport England and UK Sport’s Code for Sports Governance and the FA Regional Code of Governance for County Football Associations

James Middlehurst, London FA Chair said: “I was extremely impressed by the calibre of applicants, and we have strengthened our board with a group of talented and highly qualified individuals.  Our new board members’ wealth of diverse management skills, experience and backgrounds puts us in a very strong position and we’re looking forward to entering an exciting and progressive new era for the London FA.”
