Reasons to Referee

More and more and more people of all ages, genders, races and abilities are getting into refereeing.

For current and potential officials, refereeing is a great way to:

The First Step

The FA Referee Course

The FA Referee Course provides you with all the tools to begin your refereeing career. Comprising of six units to cover both theoretical and practical aspects of refereeing, this is perfect for those aspiring to an officiating career.

14 years old is the minimum age you must be to qualify as a referee.

The course is over two days and is a mix of theory and practical.

Yes, you must have completed and passed the Guide to Online Laws of The Game and completed your safeguarding (16+ years olds - click HERE) and (14-15 year olds – click HERE)

Yes!

If you are 16 years old or older you must have a valid and in date DBS. Getting a DBS with the London FA costs £10.00 which is valid for three years. 

Referee kit costs £35 this includes (shirts, shorts and socks)

At the beginning of each season you must also re-register and this costs £20, providing it is done before 31st July, or £30 thereafter.
