The First Step

The FA Referee Course

The FA Referee Course provides you with all the tools to begin your refereeing career. Comprising of six units to cover both theoretical and practical aspects of refereeing, this is perfect for those aspiring to an officiating career.

Respect

The FA's Respect programme provides a series of tools for leagues, clubs, coaches, players and parents from grassroots to elite football - to help ensure a safe, positive environment in which to play the game.

FAQS

14 years old is the minimum age you must be to qualify as a referee.

£165.00, but this includes a 'Laws of the Game' booklet, a 'Learn the Laws' CD-ROM, a pre-course study book, venue hire, tutor costs, essential referee equipment including: red and yellow cards, a match day wallet, whistle and lanyard and safeguarding children awareness training.

If you are 16 years old or older you must have a valid and in date Criminal Record Check (CRC).

Getting a CRC with the London FA costs £10.00 which is valid for three years. At the beginning of each season you must also re-register and this costs £20, providing it is done before 31st July, or £30 thereafter.
