Parklife FC 1st team Manager/Coach (voluntary)
Parklife FC (est. 2004) are a Sunday league club that has 3 teams: 1st team, 2nd team and Vets. The 1st has been in the top flight for 18 years and this summer we have suddenly lost our manager due to a recent job commitment so we’re on the lookout for a new manager/coach to take over.
We have a great group of lads already with several of them being part of the team for the last 3-4 years. There has been a transition over the past few seasons of the senior players moving to the Vets team so there has been a little bit of instability and lack of leaders but we’re hoping with a new manager that we can build something for the future with the younger lads we have at present. Average age is about 27 so it’s a healthy squad.
The coach/manager’s main responsibilities include:
- Picking the line-up and tactics for each game
- Making sure the players know all the details for the matches each week
- Warm up and cool down on match day
- Match review/feedback for the team Whatsapp and selecting Man of the Match
- Liaising with Parklife’s Pitch Secretary to make sure pitches have been booked
- Liaising with Parklife’s Treasurer if in need of new kit or equipment
- Keeping line of communication with Parklife’s chairman and the 2nd team manager
- Liaising with Parklife’s secretary for new registering new players
Currently there is no training but we are open to this is new coach happy to run. We used to train but lost our training pitch recently.
The league is the Southern Sunday Football League which is made up of 12 divisions with our 2nd team in the 6th tier and our 1st team in the top tier. The league is very well run and has a brilliant ethos and quality of play. The top division is a great quality and there are no easy games so the team is required to play at a high level for Sunday League.
Our home crowd is Edward Alleyns Old Boys Club located on Burbage Road in Dulwich. We have 3 pitches with our 1st and 2nd pitches of a very high standard, the best in all 12 divisions. We have an excellent club house with Sky TV showing all the matches over the weekend.
The games are every Sunday 10:30 for away games and 13:00 for home games. We aim to have at least two of the teams at home as often as possible so we can support each other.
The team has an excellent social culture with regular social events and a football tour every two years to coincide with a major tournament. This year we went to Germany and played a local team. The next tour is to Atlanta for the World Cup.
The old 1st manager will assist at the start to make sure the new coach/manager settles in nicely. This could be a great position for aspiring coaches that want to work with a very good standard of player and is keen to gain experience before moving on to a higher level.
If interested, please contact James McCrossen at jamesmccrossen@hotmail.co.uk or 07828998077
The season starts on 22nd September.
