Tournaments
Did you know that if you run a tournament, and you don’t sanction with your Local County FA, your insurance, and those of the Clubs and Match Officials taking part would be invalid.
Summer Tournaments are common practice for Clubs to host, especially during the off-season. London FA has provided you with everything you need to get your tournament sanctioned.
Helpful tips
- Please note: If your tournament is scheduled on or before 30th June 2024, all Clubs MUST be affiliated for the current season.
- Any Competition on or after the 1st July, therefore in 2024/2025 season, all Clubs and Match Officials MUST be affiliated for the relevant season.
** AFFILIATION NUMBERS ** - Please be aware that following changes to the affiliation process implemented from the start of the 2023/24 season, clubs will no longer receive an affiliation number. Instead, affiliation is completed on a team-by-team basis, with each team within a club now having its own individual affiliation status.
If proof of affiliation is requested (for the purposes of tournament entry etc), we would suggest taking a screenshot of the Teams tab in Club Portal.
Benefits of sanctioning
- Permitted to use registered referees (registered referees are not permitted to officiate in un-affiliated football
- Coverage under club public liability insurance
- County FA approval of rules
- Ensure that the tournament meets the London FA safeguarding requirements
The FA have released a summer tournament guide. Please refer to this when planning your tournament:
Tournaments, friendlies or competitions involving children under the age of 6 will not be sanctioned. The FA regulations are clear and state "A child who has not attained the age of 6 shall not play and shall not be permitted or encouraged to play in a match of any kind". All children who have attained the age of 6 can therefore only play in Under 7 age groups.
Each tournament costs £50.00 to sanction, alongside Public Liability Insurance, which costs £20.00. Once we have approved your sanction, we will invoice you via the Whole Game System.
