Online Ramadan Awareness Workshop - Thursday 8 April
Riz Rehman from The PFA will be delivering an online Ramadan awareness workshop, organised in conjunction with QPR Trust, on Thursday 8 April, 11am-12noon.
Muslim players and Ramadan awareness – workshop overview
From the 2020/21 football season, and for the subsequent 20 plus seasons, the religious month of Ramadan will fall within the football calendar. With the growing number of Muslim players from the grassroots, academy system and through to the professional game, understanding and embracing individual and cultural differences is key to achieving the highest level of wrap-around support for players, in turn improving their welfare and performance.
In developing this workshop, The PFA hope to improve awareness of Ramadan, as well as our understanding of various considerations which can improve the inclusion of and support provided to players, staff and participants.
They will look to cover the following areas:
• A brief background to Islam, Ramadan and Muslim Players/Role Models
• Important dates for consideration
• Club-Wide Support
• Safeguarding & Policy Considerations
• Social Action Considerations
• Case Studies and Scenarios
• Action Planning
• Marketing & Communications
If you would like to attend, please email charlotte.edwards@qpr.co.uk by Tuesday 6 April to request the joining link.
