At the end of June, Impact Girls FC were given the opportunity to be one of the first group of players to experience the high of playing football on the fantastic new rooftop astroturf pitches at Britannia Leisure Centre.
Impact Girls FC is one of Hackney's local progressive grassroots football clubs whose training base is at Haggerston Park. Hackney councils Football Development programme have collaborated with Impact FC to initiate a Girls Only Football session which takes place on Saturday mornings at Haggerston’s astroturf pitch. The football fun sessions have seen the number of girls attending increase dramatically since the sessions began. So much so that Impact FC has now been able to move to the next stage by developing teams who will be playing in the Hackney Marshes Saturday Youth Football Leagues Girls Only Divisions section in the forthcoming 21/22 season.
After delivering a coaching session on one of the rooftop pitches, Alfred Mugabo - the lead coach for Impact FC's Girls Football Development Programme said "We actually had no idea that this brilliant space had been created and the girls had a fantastic time getting to play at such a unique venue. The opportunity has just added to the great enthusiasm they have to want to be involved in the game and get the chance to play in organised competition football."
Any girls who are interested in joining the Impact Girls FC football movement should contact Alfred Mugabo at firstname.lastname@example.org
