IDPwD - Greenwich Powerchair Football Club
Greenwich Powerchair Football Club activities provide the opportunity for inactive disabled people to experience the joy of playing football in this exciting sport.
Not only to learn new skills but also a chance to meet new friends and have fun. Powerchair Football is a unique sport that provides opportunities for people with a high level of impairment to access the game of football. It is the only active team participation sport for people who use electric wheelchairs.
The sport is fast paced, dynamic and very enjoyable to watch. Due to the unique nature of Powerchair Football it allows all ages, disabilities and both genders to compete together. Powerchair Football enables disabled people to take part in regular activity and provides them with opportunities to compete. As a result it helps build key life skills such as teamwork and communication.
The Wheelchair Football Association (WFA) was formed in 2005 to govern the sport of Powerchair Football in England. The WFA are recognised by the Football Association as the sports lead organisation and our Laws are sanctioned by them. Initially the WFA ran as a voluntary organisation focusing on raising awareness, providing guidance to potential new clubs and establishing a national competition.
