Frame Football Masthead 3

IDPwD - Teviot Rangers

London FA celebrates the opportunities on offer to disabled players across the capital.

Teviott Rangers have set-up a new frame football session for kids in South East London.

Frame Football is an adapted form of football designed for people who have restricted mobility and would normally use a walker or crutches. The adapted and inclusive game was designed to enable children, young people and adults to play football with ambulant or able-bodied players and it is a new way to play the beautiful game of football.

“We are so excited to be working in partnership with Teviot Rangers, London FA and CP Sport to create more opportunities for deaf and disabled children through Frame Football. Lee has been running theses fantastic inclusive sessions where all the children and their families have thoroughly enjoyed taking part and trying something new.” Sophie Epsley Access Sport Development Manager (Disability and Volunteering)

Frame Football recognises that frame users, often excluded from playing with their able-bodied peers, need their own format for football and now provides a level playing field on which to play.

“It’s great to see new frame football opportunities develop in London. Lee has done a great job to set this up within Teviot Rangers, and reaching out to the local community to engage people in the sessions. Access Sport and London FA have been great to work with to make this happen,” said Rich Kerr National CP Football Development Officer, CP Sport.

The project is supported by Access Sport, London FA and Cerebral Palsy Sport. The project is kindly funded by Access Sports and they currently have 3 players attending the session but are looking to increase numbers over the next few months. London FA are working closely with CP Sports to set more provision in London in other boroughs and are keen to work with other grassroots clubs.

“The project has come from some great partnership work between CP sport, Access Sport and London FA and Lee has been amazing to work with and has really embraced disability football provision at Teviot Rangers,” added Conor McBrearty Disability and Inclusion Football Development Officer at London FA.
