The Felix Project

London FA Volunteers with The Felix Project

Members of our team take time out to volunteer with a local charity.

On Friday 24 November, several London FA staff members headed over to Tower Hamlets to volunteer with The Felix Project.

The Felix Project is London’s largest redistribution charity, they rescue food that would otherwise have gone to waste and give it to around 1,000 community organisations and schools every week, who support those living in food insecurity. Their work is vital to keep Londoners fed, especially since their recent survey found 1 in 4 working London parents struggle to afford to feed their families.

The team, decked in hairnets and aprons instead of tracksuits and football boots, spent the morning at The Felix Project warehouse, supporting in packaging meals for the most vulnerable in London. The team finished the day having boxed up nearly 3,000 meals, which will be distributed to those who need it most in our community.

Head of Partnerships, Aquila Burgess, shares the importance of partnering with a charity like The Felix Project: “It was such a great experience partnering with The Felix Project to allow London FA staff to volunteer for the morning. To have played a part in producing nearly 3,000 meals was an amazing achievement and to know it is for those who really need it across the capital.

I would thoroughly recommend spending a day at one of their sites to gain an insight into the food banks demand and operating procedures to tackle this. An incredibly rewarding day, so thanks again to The Felix Project.”
