Free Allies United Workshop in partnership with Football v Homophobia

London FA is delighted to announce our collaboration with Football v Homophobia by delivering a free workshop for all our affiliated clubs.

As part of the ‘Allies United’ launched by Football v Homophobia and Just Eat- the first initiative designed to support grassroots football clubs in enabling more inclusivity in the grassroots game.

The online workshop delivered by the team at Football vs Homophobia, aims to empower your club with the knowledge and tools to cultivate a truly inclusive environment, thereby making football more welcoming for the LGBTQ+ community.

Date: Wednesday 13th December
Time: 7pm
Duration: 90 minutes

Workshop Highlights:

  • Introduction (including terminology)
  • Insights into LGBTQ+ individuals in sports and physical activities
  • Addressing barriers to participation
  • Understanding the impact of language
  • Crafting LGBTQ+ friendly spaces
  • Embracing your role as an effective LGBTQ+ ally

Just Eat research reveals that over 70% of people from the LGBTQIA+ community would not consider playing football, with barriers cited as concerns about homophobic and transphobic language used, a lack of feeling welcomed and there not being enough conversation around LGBTQIA+ allyship.

We want everyone to be ‘free to be’ themselves in football, regardless of gender and identity. Watch the video featuring England star Conor Coady, which sheds light on the challenges the LGBTQIA+ community encounters in grassroots football.

The workshop is open to up to two representatives per grassroots club. To register your place, please click the booking link below.
